Strengthening protection through community participation
CADEF’s community-based child protection programme works with children, caregivers, community groups and service providers to recognise risks and connect children with appropriate support.
Documented programme work
The published record describes support to community child protection groups, youth clubs and committees, alongside work with Social Affairs, local councils and non-governmental actors to strengthen links between community structures and formal services.
The activity archive includes community child protection committee training in Bimbia. The programme approach connects protection work with psychosocial support, livelihoods and education for children affected by conflict.
Why this work mattered
Community members are often the first to notice protection concerns. Building their knowledge and links with services supports a more coordinated response to children’s needs.
Learning and next steps
Community groups need clear roles and reliable links to qualified services. Future monitoring can track training reach, referral follow-up and community feedback while protecting confidential case information.
