Protecting health after floods and landslides
CADEF joined the South West WASH Cluster response, supported by UNICEF, to assess urgent needs, share hygiene information and distribute essential WASH supplies.
Documented reach and delivery
Over 100 households received WASH supplies, including soap, jerry cans and water-purification tablets, according to the November 2023 activity story.
The August story documents needs assessments in four communities: Clacks Quarter, Livanda, Upper Mawoh and Lower Mawoh, alongside cholera-prevention awareness, hygiene promotion and household water-treatment sensitisation.
Why this support mattered
Practical supplies and hygiene information addressed immediate household needs after the disaster. Community visits connected the response with the conditions families faced.
Learning for future responses
This combination of community assessment, practical assistance and prevention messaging provides a useful approach for future WASH responses. Follow-up monitoring can establish how households use supplies and which needs remain.
Evidence behind this record
August 2023 assessment and hygiene awareness story · November 2023 WASH distribution story
The household figure is reported reach, not a kit count. The stories do not establish a measured reduction in cholera or other illness. This record is separate from the 2026 Limbe response.
